I receive the Too many activations error

Reactivate your installation. The old installation will be automatically deactivated.

Details

The common causes for this error message are:

  • You exceed the limit of available activations. For example, you have a Standard edition and attempt to install Acronis True Image 2014 on more than 1 machine;
  • You reinstall or upgrade your operating system;
  • You upgrade your machine with new hardware;
  • You replace your machine with a new one.

If you want to use Acronis True Image 2014 on more machines than you license allows, you will need to purchase additional serial numbers and activate the new copies.

If you have reinstalled or upgraded your operating system or hardware, or simply moved the product to a different machine, reactivate Acronis True Image 2014 in the new environment.

My serial number is not accepted during the installation

How can I back up?

In brief

It is recommended to create a disk backup of your machine by starting the product and clicking Backup and Recovery -> Disk and partition backup. Click the Select disk mode option. This way you will later be able to restore the entire disk or individual files from the disk backup.

How can I clone a disk?

In brief

If you are going to clone the disk of a laptop/notebook, you need to:

  • Do it from Acronis Bootable Media
  • Put the new disk in the laptop first and then attach the old drive vis USB

If you are cloning a disk of your desktop, just run the cloning operation from Acronis True Image 2014.

Details

You can only clone an entire disk, not separate partitions.

The disk must be an MBR basic disk. Other types are not supported. If you are using Windows 8.1 with GPT and UEFI disk configurations that have custom partitioning sequences, it is recommended to perform a disk backup and then recover it (instead of cloning).

You can clone a desktop disk when running Acronis True Image 2014 in Windows.

If you are going to clone a laptop/notebook disk, attach the disk that you clone via USB and put the disk that you clone to inside the laptop. Boot the machine from Acronis Bootable Media and perform the cloning.

My system crashed. I do not have an installed product. I haven't noted my serial number.
  1. Get your serial number using Serial Number Retriever.
  2. Download ISO file of the product from MY PRODUCTS & DOWNLOADS.
  3. Burn the ISO Image. See Burning an ISO Image.
  4. Boot the machine from the ISO Image and restore the machine from your backup archive.

Just downloaded and registered for 30-day free trial of True Image 2014 for my old Windows XP SP3 machine. When trying install it, the installation process starts fine, and then goes along fine with the green progress bar moving along almost to the very end, but then just hangs.

I canceled it after an hour, and ran the cleanup tool, rebooted and started the process again.
